The Short Version
ScionOwners.com doesn't have user accounts, doesn't process payments, and doesn't sell anything. We collect the minimum needed to run the site and understand traffic — nothing more.
What We Collect
Newsletter / Update Signup
If you submit your email through a signup form on the site (for example on the forum page or in the footer), that email is used only to notify you about site updates — the forum going live, new guides, and similar. We don't sell or share it, and we don't use it for anything else. Addresses are stored with Resend, the email service we use to manage the list and send messages.
Contact Form
When you use the contact form, the name, email address and message you enter are emailed to us so we can reply. That message is delivered through Resend, our email provider. We keep it as long as needed to handle your enquiry, and we don't add contact-form addresses to any mailing list.
Analytics
We use standard web analytics (page views, referring site, device/browser type, approximate location by country/region) to understand what content is useful and fix what isn't. This data is aggregated and is not used to build individual profiles or track you across other websites.
Server Logs
Like virtually every website, our hosting provider (Vercel) logs standard technical request data (IP address, request time, user agent) for security and reliability purposes. We don't access this for tracking purposes.
What We Don't Collect
- No account creation, no passwords
- No payment or financial information — we don't sell anything
- No phone numbers or physical addresses
- No cross-site tracking or ad-network cookies
Cookies
We don't run advertising or retargeting cookies. If analytics cookies are in use, they're limited to anonymized, aggregate usage measurement — never used to identify you personally or sold to third parties. You can block cookies in your browser; the site will still function normally.
Service Providers
We use a small number of third parties to actually run the site. They process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy terms:
- Vercel — hosting and server logs (privacy policy)
- Resend — sending contact-form messages and storing newsletter signups (privacy policy)
Third-Party Links
Pages on this site link out to official sources like Toyota, NHTSA, and Wikimedia Commons for recall data, factory information, and images. Those sites have their own privacy policies — we're not responsible for how they handle data.
Your Rights
If you've given us your email via a signup form and want it deleted, or you have any other privacy question, email [email protected] — we'll handle it promptly.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above. Continued use of the site after a change means you've accepted the update.
